Why You Need to Put Your Dreams Down on Paper
Dream Bigger! Ladies and gents, it’s time to put your dream pants on. Think about your life today and all that you’ve achieved. What things in your life now did you consider unrealistic 5 or 10 years ago? Sit and think about this for a second. Just realize all the dreams you’ve achieved so far; it’s living proof that you can make any dream possible. You simply have to give yourself permission. In this CarSmart episode, you’ll learn how to change your dreamer’s mindset and dream bigger.
When I quit my full-time job as a paralegal in order to pursue my passion for fitness, it was scary. But it felt so right. When I started to build my teaching style and build a community of people in my workout classes, I became so overwhelmed with joy and confidence in myself. My dream had become my reality.
I felt the need to share my successes with my father. When I told him how well I was doing, he simply said: “Is that it?”. He told me that I deserved to dream bigger. He said that if I could achieve this dream of building a community and instructing in fitness, then I should think of what else I could accomplish with that same passion. I was told to think of how I could grow even more and change even more people’s lives. I was pissed. Pissed that my dad wouldn’t just tell me good job and leave it at that. But soon enough, I realized that my dad was right (as he always is).
There’s a difference between a dream and a goal. Goals have deadlines and they can be checked off. But with dreams… dreams can expand to be as big and “impossible” and unrealistic as we want them to be. Then, we simply have to break down our crazy, huge dreams into bite-size goals. We do this to make them possible and realistic. Yes, it takes patience, but it’s beyond worth it.
