Your Facebook page is super important to your business. At this point, you’ve probably spent countless hours learning how to grow your page and use that growth to fuel your business. Now, imagine how devastating it would be to lose access to that page. Imagine the short term and long term impact that could have on your business and livelihood. Well, you could lose your page if you don’t secure your Facebook account or if you don’t play by Facebook’s rules! In today’s episode, I talks you through ways to keep your Facebook page up and running.
Now, as we’ve discussed recently, cyberattacks are on the rise and it’s important that you know how to respond to any potential hack. Here is a list to help you:
1, Don’t click on any links to verify your email address unless you specifically requested the verification within the last few minutes.
2. Don’t call any numbers via text or email. Instead, use a search engine to find the company, then contact their customer service and verify they need certain information from you.
3. Make sure you have two-factor authentication on your email, Facebook, and Twitter. (Hopefully, Instagram will allow that soon.) If you have older accounts that don’t offer two-factor authentication, then forward emails to your secure email account (Gmail is considered to be the most secure as of right now).
Now, on the other end of the spectrum, one of the most common reasons people get their Facebook account suspended is due to “suspicious activity”. What does that mean? Well, here are a few of the most common reasons to get suspended:
- Sending a lot of friend requests to people you don’t know.
- Sending a copy and paste message to lots of people.
- Multiple people logging into one account. (Solution: Give individuals administrative access through their Facebook profile).
- Using your profile page for business.
- Posting inappropriate content.
- Using someone else’s intellectual property (music, images). (Solution: Use royalty-free music and images.)
With this list in hand, you can make sure you play by the rules and keep your Facebook account in good standing which, of course, means you don’t have to worry about losing your page.
