I Tested ALL the Skirts and Found My Favorite

If you’ve seen any of my recent videos, you’ve probably noticed I’ve entered my Sporty Skirt Era. It started with a dance class. Then a girls’ weekend. Now it’s just… who I am.

These skirts are comfy, cute, flattering, and come with built-in shorts (aka no accidental flashing when you bend over to pick up your dog or drop it low on a boat). And the best part? You don’t have to spend a fortune to look like your legs do squats on their own.

I’ve bought a lot of them. Some were meh. Some were overpriced. And some were perfect. So I rounded up my favorites… yes, including the viral Amazon one, the under-$20 steal from SHEIN, and the Lululemon version that started it all.

My Top Skirt Picks (With Links!)

1. SHEIN

A high waist drawstring pleated mini skirt that is ultra flattering.

  • Lightweight
  • Has pockets
  • Costs less than a salad

This beauty is available in 9 colors, and at this price, grab a few.

2. JOYGIRL (The Amazon Version)

A pleated tennis skirt with compression shorts and pockets. Wear this thing to brunch, the gym, or literally anywhere. You don’t have to play tennis (unless you want to).

  • Actually flattering
  • Not see-through (IYKYK)
  • Comes in a billion colors

I am in love with this skirt. It looks freaking amazing in person. Go get one already.

3. JOYGIRL (The TikTok Version)

Okay, literally the exact same skirt… just on a different marketplace. My suggestion? Check out both and compare prices because they seem to change daily.

Check it out.

4. Lululemon

When you want quality, nothing beats a good Lululemon staple.

  • A brand you can trust
  • Slightly longer length
  • Kinda expensive

You can never go wrong with a good Lulu piece.

5. Alo Yoga

The Grand Slam Tennis skirt looks good on everyone. Really.

  • Super soft fabric
  • Sporty chic (without trying too hard)
  • Pricey, but worth it

FYI. It also comes in pink.

The Verdict

You don’t need every color.
But also… you might.

If you’ve got summer plans that involve walking, dancing, working out, or just pretending you have errands so you can strut around the block, these are for you. Throw one on, feel put together, and enjoy the unsolicited compliments.

More finds coming your way soon (especially if I keep impulse-buying things “for content”).

  1. Please show us more pics of what you’re wearing with them! I’m challenged, being very short-waisted can make a top over these look frumpy;)

  2. Love the skirt recommendations. I’d love to have links to your favorite leggings! In particular the one’s you’re wearing in various clips of mobility movements at the beginning of the recent “7 Exercises” YouTube video. The royal blue, light gray/taupe, and light pink/mauve.

  3. Hey Chalene,
Thank you for all the great tips. I’ve been following you for several years and I love you! I just turned 69, I am pretty young for my age and I love wearing short skirts and dresses.
I Have skinny legs and they are getting all kinds of wrinkly down, above the knee for the skin kind of sags a little bit. Any of those skirts a little longer than the others?
PS you look great in all them!
    Thank you,
