Pete Davidson, Jasmine Guy and AI Voice Assistants: What's Ahead

[00:00:00] Chalene Johnson : Hey, what’s going on? Thank you so much for joining me here today on The Chalene Show. This is gonna be a really good episode. I’m really excited that you’re here. We cover a lot of topics. The first thing I’m gonna do is talk to you about the Pete Davidson debacle, the interview that he gave where he bashed female content creators.

[00:00:19] Chalene Johnson : I’ve got a thing or two I’d like to say to him just to explain some things that I think he missed. But by the same token, I do understand why people take issue with content creators who make more money than surgeons. How does that make sense? I’m gonna play both sides of that coin today. Brett is in the car with me for this first part of the conversation here, and we also talk about NIL and sports and how that factors in, and, like, why do we pay athletes so much, and should they be paid $20 million before ever showing up to one day of work?

[00:00:56] Chalene Johnson : And what about these kids that are making tens of millions of dollars as they’re coming out of high school to go and play sports for colleges with NIL? It’s kinda crazy. We’re gonna talk about the reboot of A Different World, and what’s happening with the story around Jasmine Guy and ageism, and something that I don’t think a lot of people have picked up on, but it only happens to women.

[00:01:22] Chalene Johnson : And of course, it relates to the way that we age. Spoiler alert, whatever it is you wanna do, you should do it. Stay natural, get a facelift. Whatever you choose, that’s what you should do, because there’s always gonna be, like, 50% of the population that says you’re doing it wrong no matter what you do. You should just do you, boo.

[00:01:40] Chalene Johnson : I’m also gonna share with you where I think we’re headed with our voice and what’s gonna happen with our phones. And I’ve stopped typing. I started getting an itis in one of my thumbs from the way that I hold my phone. I really am doing very little typing. I’m gonna actually let you listen in on a conversation between myself and my new assistant, and you can hear my ADHD brain trying to bounce from idea to idea to idea, and how it is I get myself organized.

[00:02:15] Chalene Johnson : And it’s the new technology. It’s available to everybody. There are versions of it that are completely free. That’s at the end of this episode. We are gonna talk a little bit about AI, but even if you’re not into AI, this is a really important conversation, and I think it’s gonna blow your mind. I really do.

[00:02:30] Chalene Johnson : So stay tuned to the end. Also, don’t forget, right now Patreon is 50% off just for this month. You have to enter code Chalene when you sign up. Go to chalene.com/more. We’ve never done this before. 50% off. This is your moment. Jump in. It’s where the best conversations happen, let me tell you. All of my personal life, all the tea, all the things that I don’t put on the regular show, it’s all there on Patreon, and we would love to have you.

[00:02:58] Chalene Johnson : It’s a really fun community, too. All the comments about the show are underneath each episode. All right. Without further ado, let’s get to it. This is gonna be a fun one. This is a little clip from Pete Davidson. I’m sure you remember Pete Davidson. He’s kind of got those raccoon eyes, always looks like he needs more sleep.

Pete Davidson's Variety Interview Slamming Female Content Creators

[00:03:16] Chalene Johnson : He’s on SNL. That’s the only place I know him from. Actually, that and he actually became far more well-known when he started dating the world’s most famous influencer, that being Kim Kardashian. If I recall, I think he had her name tattooed on him. Who knows? All right. Well, here’s what Pete Davidson had to say in an interview he did that appeared on Variety magazine’s online publication.

[00:03:43] Chalene Johnson : All right. Take a listen. Enjoy. And the little part that I’m beeping out is where he’s referring to his male anatomy. I’m sure you can fill in the blanks.

[00:03:53] Pete Davidson: Do really crazy on the internet. It’s bad, and it makes me sad, you know? And girls are just talking to themselves on there, and they’re like, “Okay, come get ready with me.”

[00:04:05] Pete Davidson: And I’m like, “Who the are you? What do you do?” Nothing. What the is this?

[00:04:11] AI Dolly: They make 40 million a year?

[00:04:12] Pete Davidson: What? And then I’m like, “The world’s broken.” There’s girls my age that go on TikTok, and they’ll, like, mutter, like, a thing, and then do this, like, dance. And I’m like, “What the are you doing? This is insane. Does no one else see how insane and lame this is?”

[00:04:29] Pete Davidson: And these girls are, like, super famous. Like, everyone’s like, “Oh my God, I can’t believe…” And I’m like, “What?” I don’t know. It’s the first time I’ve felt really old. But I do think about it, like, once a week. I’m like, “I just start an OnlyFans and show soft .” like really tight underwear and just soft retire Or just keep, you know, keep trying.

[00:04:53] Pete Davidson: I don’t know, you know? If it all goes to fail, I could just suck . We all could.

[00:04:58] Chalene Johnson : I don’t buy purses, I don’t buy expensive shoes, I don’t buy expensive jewelry. Like, now I see someone carrying an expensive purse, I’m like, “What is that gonna do for your life?” You know what I mean? I know, I used to have them.

[00:05:08] Chalene Johnson : But anyways, what I like to spend my money on are things that help me to age powerfully. You know? So, like, I’ll do hyperbaric oxygen or, uh, to do a DEXA scan to actually have a scan that tells me my bone density, tells me my body fat level, to look at my hormone levels. Like, all of these things relate to living and aging powerfully, aging well, if you will.

[00:05:29] Chalene Johnson : And it’s hard to find doctors who specialize in that type of care. I will say, I recently discovered that the company that I’ve referred many of you to for women’s hormone health, which is Midi Health, they offer an Age Well consultation. So th- that means all of those markers, all those things that you can’t get your doctor to prescribe for you, like a DEXA scan or blood panels or looking at your hormone panels, any of those things, you can book an Age Well appointment through Midi Health.

[00:06:00] Chalene Johnson : If you’re already a Midi customer, that’s awesome. If you’re not, just go to chalene.com/midi, M-I-D-I. What I love about Midi, which is some of you are paying way too much for your longevity appointments as it is. I mean, you can pay up to $2,000 for a concierge doctor. With Midi, it’s super-duper affordable, and they work with almost every single major health insurance company in the nation.

[00:06:24] Chalene Johnson : This is a company that is devoted to helping women age powerfully. So book yourself an Age Well appointment. They have consultants in every single state, all 50 states, and again, they accept most insurance. So check it out. Just go to chalene.com/midi, M-I-D-I. First, let me just cut him a little tiny bit of slack, because after this, then I’m just gonna rip him to shreds.

[00:06:51] Chalene Johnson : Be prepared. First, I understand how sometimes it can feel a little upside down if we’re comparing something like a brain surgeon, who isn’t making $40 million a year, to someone who is making $40 million a year, and it does appear as though all they’re doing is sitting in front of their camera and talking about getting ready.

[00:07:12] Chalene Johnson : I understand that comparison. I understand how that is kind of crazy to think that all of us thought at one point, in order to earn a lot of money and to be successful, we need to go to school, we need to get the right degree, we need to work really hard, get good grades, get into the right firm, work our way up the corporate ladder, and that’s how you make a respectable living.

[00:07:32] Chalene Johnson : I understand that it might seem insane today that there are lots of influencers who make a lot more money than most celebrities, including Pete Davidson. I understand that And God bless him for just speaking off the cuff, ’cause he really made a big mistake by doing them. Him ranting about content makers earning $40 million and then reducing that to him having a problem with the women who do that, and then slowly kind of morphing female content creators who do get ready with mes into female content creators who, I don’t know if he was trying to infer that they basically do soft porn, ’cause that was the example that he gave for himself.

[00:08:19] Chalene Johnson : He’s like, “Maybe that’s what I should do, right?” Well, the problem he has is that women are making an obscene amount of money, and to him, he didn’t compare it to a surgeon He compared it to like, what do you do? Like, what is the value in that? Well, I’ll tell you what, Pete, a woman, or a man for that matter, who is a content creator, is not making that kind of money just for showing up.

[00:08:42] Chalene Johnson : They’re making that kind of money because they can move product, and not everyone with a big following can move product. That’s why a lot of these celebrities sometimes get upset, because they have big followings, but they can’t move products because we don’t know, trust, or like you. We don’t even know who you are because you’re reading a script, not from within your home, not wearing your own clothes.

00:09:03

Haley Baylee's Response and What Influencers Actually Get Paid For

[00:09:03] Chalene Johnson : You’re reading a script that a production team has already set up for you, and someone else has done all of the work. Okay, I have more to say about this, but before I do, let me allow Haley Bailey, she is a female content creator, who I think she did… just did a beautiful, succinct job of addressing Pete.

[00:09:23] Chalene Johnson : So here’s her response. Well, hi Pete. I’m Haley, and it seems like we have some learning to do. I’m a content creator, which means that I talk to a camera for a living, which is practically the exact same thing that you do, except I don’t work with a major production company. So I write the content, edit the content, light the content, do the audio for the content, script the content.

[00:09:41] Chalene Johnson : My easiest days are the days that I get to work with a production studio, because all of that is done for me. I just get to show up and memorize a script that was already written for me. But you’re right, I do nothing. So let’s continue. I see you went to one semester of college before dropping out and pursuing comedy.

[00:09:54] Chalene Johnson : That’s cool. I also went to college before pursuing comedy, but I graduated with a biomedical sciences degree, a psych degree, and a minor in chemistry. Oh, and I got a 4.0, which is considered summa cum laude. I know you didn’t graduate, so you might have to look that one up. Now, I know college is expensive and not everyone can afford to go, which is why I won Miss Minnesota USA and Miss Minnesota Teen USA to help pay for that college.

[00:10:12] Chalene Johnson : Now, I do have a lot of respect for the fact that your parents weren’t wealthy and were not connected to entertainment. Mine neither. I know you built your career by doing small stand-up shows all throughout New York until you were finally recognized by bigger comedians. I can’t lie, I really respect that, which is why I do the exact same thing.

[00:10:26] Chalene Johnson : But instead of doing small comedy shows to be recognized by larger comedians, I’m doing small videos to be recognized, hopefully by those large production offices like SNL. So we’re basically playing the exact same game, since the newest cast members to be added to SNL were TikTokers, and they were women.

[00:10:40] Chalene Johnson : So this is awkward. So from my calculations, it looks like we both grew up doing the exact same thing, writing and producing our own materials so that hopefully we could be seen by a bigger audience or recognized by somebody like SNL, except I was able to do that while getting my degree, but you know, that’s neither here nor there.

[00:10:54] Chalene Johnson : I don’t think you have a problem with content creation since you literally do it. I think you have a problem with women in content creation, since you didn’t call out streamers, you didn’t call out male athletes, you avoided everything male-dominated, but you came for female content creators. I’ve had the honor of meeting many successful women in content creation, and they are absolutely incredible.

[00:11:11] Chalene Johnson : They’re smart, they’re talented, and obviously they’re a threat to you. For a man who’s dated so many successful women, it’s crazy how much you hate them. Who are you and what do you do? Except I’m not gonna ask that because I actually respect what you do. Maybe you should start doing the same. Bye. But the piece I think that Haley maybe missed is the fact that not just the effort and work that goes into being a content creator at that level, but also the fact that content creators, they basically work on commission.

[00:11:42] Chalene Johnson : If they’re not moving that much product, they’re not making any money. It’s a lot harder than I think people realize. If someone were honestly making $40 million, we’re talking about a .001% of the most successful creators, okay? But if they were making $40 million, that means at a minimum, they’re moving $200 million or more in product sales and creating an entire ecosystem around it.

[00:12:12] Chalene Johnson : That person is creating jobs, and contractors, and editors, and producers, and managers, and agents, and they’re paying lawyers, and accountants, and platforms, and software companies, and brands, and they’re giving a cut to advertisers, and photographers, and designers, and they’re paying for travel, and studios, and equipment, production.

[00:12:29] Chalene Johnson : Yeah, she’s creating an ecosystem. That’s what she’s doing That’s the actual work that she’s doing to build an audience of that level. And to do that is a relentless, tireless amount of work. That’s another thing people do not realize in order to do that. You have to understand what people want to watch.

[00:12:52] Chalene Johnson : You’ve got to maintain a level of trust. I mean, it is an insane amount of work. It’s not showing up and reading, practicing your script on Wednesday, and then reading it live on Saturday. No. That’s just not how it works. So it’s just kinda crazy that this guy, and maybe he speaks for many people who just don’t understand, that’s marketing.

[00:13:14] Chalene Johnson : That’s the economy that we’re in. We don’t buy things anymore because a brand makes a glossy ad. Eh, maybe. But more often than not, probably the last 10 things in your cart are because somebody you know, whether it’s, like, a friend or someone you… who’s in your circle, they posted about it, or they told you about it, or maybe it’s someone you’ve been following for a long time, and they save you time because you trust their recommendations.

[00:13:42] Chalene Johnson : I’ve said this many times, that there are people who I follow, everything they post I wanna buy because I know they don’t post because I know they do their research. I have friends who it’s like, if I wanna figure out if something’s toxic or safe for me, I don’t have to do any research. I just ask my friend Jen, “Hey, should I buy this?”

[00:13:58] Chalene Johnson : It’s literally marketing. It’s trust, and that’s what people are marketing, is trust, and that’s very difficult to do. I think the piece that’s probably the most offensive to me about this, and again, I know he’s a comedian, and I’m sure that’s gonna be his excuse. He’s gonna say, “I was joking. I’m a comedian.”

[00:14:18] Chalene Johnson : I get it, but that joke didn’t land. The part that bugged me the most is that he made it about sexuality, as if his own dating history hasn’t been content, as if his own body hasn’t been content. In that interview, he made his body the content. He’s the one that literally made a joke about his . It’s awfully hypocritical, and it’s just so shortsighted.

[00:14:43] Chalene Johnson : It’s gross. It, it’s tired that he’s making it sound as though the only women online who are making money are, I don’t know, OnlyFans. Even an OnlyFan, she’s gotta grind. And why does he care? Really, does anyone lose their when an actor makes $40 million off of a movie? All they did was show up and play make-believe.

[00:15:10] Chalene Johnson : They read a script. They had a lovely trailer. Somebody came and made their food. Somebody did their hair. Somebody did their makeup. They just showed up, and they made $40 million, and you know, maybe did a couple weeks worth of work. Nobody gets upset about that. Why is everybody upset that- A content creator because their job is online, and it’s one that it’s relatively new.

[00:15:32] Chalene Johnson : Why do people get upset about that? It just doesn’t make sense to me. That’s the beauty of content creation. If someone is a phony and doesn’t have trust, they’re not gonna make that money eventually. Now, granted, I know there are plenty of content creators out there that are frauds and fakes and phonies and are buying their likes, buying their engagement, buying their followers, and I think we need to crack down on that.

[00:15:57] Chalene Johnson : I wish we would because I think that’s gross. I think that’s fraud. I think that’s you’re robbing people ’cause you’re negotiating rates on brand deals based on an influence that you don’t really have. But for the most part, I would say the beauty behind the state of marketing today and how social media and the everyday average person has just as much, potentially as much influence as a big brand, is that it has leveled the playing field, not just in terms of marketing, but in terms of a lot of things like Hollywood, the music industry.

[00:16:35] Chalene Johnson : I mean, we are hearing now about these crazy stories, big music industry executives who it was kind of well known that you weren’t gonna get your record played, you weren’t gonna get a gig unless you sat on the, the audition couch. What’s it called?

[00:16:51] Bret Johnson : Casting couch.

[00:16:52] Chalene Johnson : The casting couch or the, you know, same thing for Hollywood.

[00:16:56] Chalene Johnson : I mean, the days of Weinstein, that was common play, and I think there’s probably some women in Hollywood right now who got their big break because they played that game. And I think Hollywood and these big old boy networks hate that they’re not in charge of all of that anymore, that the playing field has been leveled Now anyone.

[00:17:23] Chalene Johnson : You don’t need to wait to be discovered. You don’t need to pitch your own reality TV show. Just film it. Just show up on TikTok, show up on Instagram. You don’t have to pitch yourself to brands and hope someone will pick you. You can just start talking about the things that you love online, and sign up for free for an affiliate code, and who cares if you only have 200 followers?

[00:17:44] Chalene Johnson : If 10 of your followers are like, “Oh yeah, the, I actually trust her, I’m gonna buy that,” then you can get paid for that. That is shifting and changing the way that marketing looks. It’s, it’s changing a lot of the way… It’s changing my business, it’s changing the way I’m having to structure my income. I think it’s changing access.

[00:18:03] Chalene Johnson : You don’t have to live in Hollywood. You don’t have to move to the big city. You don’t have to have a certain look. You don’t have to be networked. You don’t have to be a nepo-baby. You just have to be willing to put yourself out there. You’re gonna get paid according to your success, meaning if you’re moving product, you’re gonna get paid.

[00:18:22] Chalene Johnson : If you’re not moving product, you’re not gonna get paid. If you don’t have legitimate influence, if you’re hawking things just for the sake of a buck or to get some things for free, people lose trust in you, and then no one’s buying anything you recommend anymore.

00:18:37

Bret Johnson on NIL Deals, Larry Ellison and the $12M Michigan Quarterback

[00:18:37] Bret Johnson : They’re more like in the athlete category, ’cause an athlete, ’cause when you were explaining an actor, an actor, right, might get $20 million deal, but the movie might suck, but he still gets the $20 million.

[00:18:48] Bret Johnson : Whereas these influencers and athletes are compensated based on their performance. So if an athlete does really well, they get paid more. If an influencer does really well, they get paid more. So

[00:18:59] Chalene Johnson : I- I would, close. I would say that that’s a fair argument, but I could also poke some holes in it, because there’s no influencer who’s going to get a $20 million signing bonus that can then have some kind of an injury and then they can’t perform and they’re still gonna get that money.

[00:19:14] Bret Johnson : That’s true, but there are some influencers that get paid not based on just sales, that they’re so reputable that they get an upfront amount or what do they call it, a retainer.

[00:19:25] Chalene Johnson : Touché. Touché. Used to. That doesn’t happen much anymore because there’s been so many people who’ve been total busts. I work with companies all the time that they’ll tell me flat out, “We don’t trust any influencers anymore.

[00:19:38] Chalene Johnson : We spent X amount of dollars.” I mean, I had one company that I was working with, they told me what they paid Cardi B, and they didn’t move any product. And they paid Cardi B what they paid Cardi B ’cause she has a huge, ginormous following, and they just paid her to get her. Now, does that help them with notoriety?

[00:19:58] Chalene Johnson : I don’t know. They say it didn’t help them move product. It’s hard to say. Nothing that was attributed to her per se. Those days are pretty much over. When you go to a brand now, most of them are smart enough in the last six months, any brand that is savvy knows that your followers doesn’t mean anything, ’cause they’re onto the people who are buying their, their followers and buying their likes, buying their engagement, and they’re onto them because they don’t move product.

[00:20:26] Chalene Johnson : So they know these are either fake or you don’t have that relationship with people. So I think those days are changing. I wonder if that will change in sports, especially with NIL. Like, they’re paying these kids huge amounts of money to go to these colleges, and then they’re still getting paid and they’re sitting on the bench.

[00:20:43] Chalene Johnson : Am I right?

[00:20:44] Bret Johnson : 100%. Especially you’re taking a big risk if you’re paying a kid that’s in high school, coming out of high school, and he’s, like, the five-star recruit, and you’re paying him millions of dollars, and he’s never performed on the college level. You don’t know how they’re gonna react away from home, away from a girlfriend, away…

[00:20:59] Bret Johnson : W- it’s, there’s so many variables that happen when you go from your high school environment to a college environment that not everybody thrives, and sometimes it takes some time. And there’s a perfect example of the Michigan quarterback right now got paid $12 million, most of which was by Larry Ellison.

[00:21:15] Bret Johnson : He’s a Michigan alum. Paid him $12 million out of high school, lured him away from LSU. He’s playing at Michigan, and he’s just not doing very well, and th- they’ve already paid him the money. Like, it’s already done.

[00:21:27] Chalene Johnson : Hmm. Do you think what I just talked about how things have shifted with influencers, where they’re no longer paid an upfront, now they’re paid by performance, do you think that’ll ever happen in sports?

[00:21:39] Bret Johnson : No. I don’t think

[00:21:40] Chalene Johnson : so. Why? Why?

[00:21:41] Bret Johnson : Because- The injury factor. There’s certain things that you’re doing, and the, the lifespan of an athlete is so short, where a lifespan of an influencer could be for decades and decades. You’re literally, the team is taking a risk, you’re taking a risk, you have a short lifespan, you have to make the money, and I think it’s just part of the industry that there are injuries.

[00:22:03] Chalene Johnson : You know what the other reason why I’m sure is because, like I said, anyone can be an influencer. Literally anyone, any age, race, height, body type. You don’t have to practice at it. You just have to be good at being you. That’s it. Versus an athlete.

[00:22:17] Bret Johnson : Yeah.

[00:22:18] Chalene Johnson : An athlete is very different. Athlete has to spend decades and decades of specializing, and they have to be born with a certain level of unique ability, and that’s a small percentage.

[00:22:28] Chalene Johnson : So I guess that’s probably another reason why that won’t happen.

[00:22:31] Bret Johnson : I mean, like you said, there could be somebody sitting unemployed on their couch right now, but they got a little bit of a funny personality, and they just start talking to TikTok, and the next thing you know they have all these followers and they’re making a huge amount of money.

[00:22:44] Bret Johnson : Whereas, like, somebody that’s unemployed sitting on the couch is not gonna be starting for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

[00:22:50] Chalene Johnson : Touché. I had the opportunity to sit down with probably one of the most well-known over 45 beauty influencers, and I said, “Girl, don’t try to sell me anything. Just tell me, like, what’s the one thing that makes the biggest difference in women’s skin?”

[00:23:07] Chalene Johnson : And she’s like, “An SPF.” And I, I know there’s, like, lots of controversy, and some people are like, “Oh, don’t wear an SPF.” She’s like, “Yeah, don’t wear an SPF if you want to look older.” She’s like, “It’s just a game changer, and you can tell the difference.” So I started wearing a full-body SPF, even on the days when it’s kind of cloudy.

[00:23:25] Chalene Johnson : And I’m here in Miami, so there’s a lot of sun. I need to find an SPF that felt good on my skin, that wasn’t sticky, that didn’t have all the, you know, nasty ingredients, that wasn’t tested on animals. So I went with OneSkin. OneSkin’s full body, their full-body SPF is amazing. But you really get the one-two combo when you combine it with the OneSkin body lotion.

[00:23:49] Chalene Johnson : Their body lotion has peptides in it. It’s literally like putting vitamins topically on your skin. It helps with collagen production. It locks in the moisture. Then you put the SPF on top of it, and it doesn’t feel like your typical SPF. Like, my skin looks so much better, so much more hydrated, and I know I’m protecting it.

[00:24:09] Chalene Johnson : So I’m happy to tell you that OneSkin is now a sponsor of the show. Why? Because I’m like, “Girl, you need a discount on this stuff, too.” So all you do is go to chalene.com/lotion. They’ve got great skincare. Like, I love their eye care. I love their SPF for your face as well, if you didn’t want to use the full body, ’cause they have a face SPF that’s tinted that’s, it’s delicious Check them out.

Penelope's Cancer Update: CT Scan and Radiation Treatment

[00:24:33] Chalene Johnson : Go to chalene.com forward slash lotion because we cannot have you getting additional steps in and risking damaging your skin. We can’t have you looking like a piece of beef jerky. No, I need your skin young and supple and well-hydrated. Go to chalene.com forward slash lotion. All right, back to the show We recorded the first part of the show today in the car heading back from getting CAT scans.

[00:25:00] Chalene Johnson : Is that what we call it? No, CT scan for Penelope. She starts her radiation treatment for her cancer. She starts that on Thursday. She was just the perfect patient today. And let me tell you, it’s just gonna require a lot of patience. It’s an hour drive each way, and then the whole process, she was there for five hours.

[00:25:18] Chalene Johnson : We are two very dedicated pit bull parents, let me tell you, ’cause we’re gonna have to do this a lot, but the good news is she’s doing a special form of radiation that she only has to do apparently three treatments, which is amazing, ’cause originally they had told us she would probably have to do 20 treatments.

[00:25:36] Chalene Johnson : Maybe more, they said, because the incision is quite long, but everybody there, and I’m not trying to brag, maybe they say this to everybody, but I’m telling you, every tech is like, “She’s the most perfect dog. Everybody loves her back there.” Do they say that to everyone? I don’t think so. I’ve had dogs. Nobody raved about how perfect our dogs were until Penelope, so thank you for continuing to keep her in your prayers.

Jasmine Guy, the Netflix A Different World Reboot and Symbolic Annihilation

[00:26:01] Chalene Johnson : Okay, it’s coming back. The… Netflix is doing a special. It’s called A Different World. Do you guys remember this show? It’s like a revival of the show A Different World, which was a spinoff from a show that so many of us grew up on from the Cosbys. And Jasmine Guy is playing Whitney Gilbert in the reboot.

[00:26:20] Chalene Johnson : This is 40 years later. She’s now 64 years old. We haven’t seen her in over 40 years. Now, you have to remember, when we were first introduced to her, she was, like, 22 years old, okay? Like I said, now she’s 64, and she’s playing the same role but 40 years later. And while people are very excited about this, the conversation, surprise, surprise, is about her appearance, which is insane because she looks freaking unbelievable.

[00:26:47] Chalene Johnson : She looks great. She looks fantastic. But the internet has an opinion about how everyone needs to… Well, I shouldn’t say that. Let me restate that. The internet, the world, has opinions on how women are supposed to age. So just let me cut to the chase and tell you, if you decide to do nothing and no Botox, none of the stuff that Shalene does, you’re gonna be criticized for that.

[00:27:12] Chalene Johnson : If you do the things that I do, if you do the upkeep and the aftermarket upgrades, and you do decide to do the fillers or the whatever, you’re gonna be criticized for that, too. So you should just do exactly what you wanna do. But there’s a term for what we’re experiencing with Jasmine Guy that I haven’t heard a lot of people talk about, and it’s something called symbolic annihilation.

[00:27:36] Chalene Johnson : It sounds like a world war, but really what is going on, and it really only happens with women. It’s our brains, when we knew someone, that’s the age at which they are forever in our heads. I don’t know about you, but I have friends who I stay in contact with them. Maybe I met their kids when they were in elementary school, and so now their kids have their own kids.

[00:28:02] Chalene Johnson : They’re like a- adults with mortgages, and my brain just cannot process it. I’m like, “No, he will always be eight years old. I don’t understand.” But more often this happens with women. This is the age that they should be forever, and the way that we experience women aging is so different th- than the way that we experience men to age.

[00:28:22] Chalene Johnson : Every single day when I watch CNBC with Brett, and they invite these old men on who are financial experts, every day I look at him, I go, “There’s no way this network would invite a woman on who looked like that.” And here’s what I mean by that. The men, they age not like fine wines. Like, eyebrows that are a foot long, skin hanging down.

[00:28:46] Chalene Johnson : They, they can’t even talk, they’re talking like this. You know, like, they just look like they’re ancient. But we decide that if a man looks like that, he must have wisdom, and so we respect him, and we give him a spot on the prime interview at 10:00 AM on CNBC. But w- with a woman, we decide, like, “Ugh, ooh, she’s really let herself go.”

[00:29:09] Chalene Johnson : You know what I mean? Like, it’s just such a completely different standard. That’s a whole separate story. What I’m talking about right now with symbolic annihilation is what happens when we hold onto the age that we think someone is going to be forever, and then we see them and we see the gray hair, we see the wrinkles.

[00:29:26] Chalene Johnson : Our brains have a difficult time associating that with the prior person, and women are much more likely to simply just disappear from public roles. It’s almost like we want them to. It’s like we don’t wanna see her age. We wanna see men age. It’s so weird. But we don’t want to see women age. She’s not gonna do it right.

[00:29:48] Chalene Johnson : So a lot of times, that’s what happens with celebrities. Especially for women, like, they just kind of disappear. Like, where did Meg Ryan go? She’s 64 years old. Why are we not seeing her in movies? Andie MacDowell, where is she? And, and forgive me if I’m missing something, if they are still in the public eye.

[00:30:07] Chalene Johnson : I’m not saying these people have intentionally disappeared. I’m saying we as a society are like, “Yeah, we, we don’t need to see them on our screen anymore.” I’m not saying they’ve disappeared. I’m not saying they’re hiding. I’m saying I’m not seeing them. Why are we not seeing these incredible women? Kim Basinger, Kathleen Turner, Michelle Pfeiffer.

[00:30:28] Chalene Johnson : Again, Rene Russo. I know you guys are probably thinking, “Well, I, I just saw her…” Sharon Stone is someone I thought of the other day. I’m like, “Where is Sharon Stone?” And then she popped up on my social media, and she was doing an interview and, and she looked great. But the women who are the same age as the women I’ve just mentioned that we’re seeing all the time, I mean, there’s no denying the fact the women we see most often, the ones that we’re putting in front of the camera, are the ones that are doing the facelifts and don’t look that different I’m not saying it’s right or wrong.

[00:31:05] Chalene Johnson : I think part of this is we’re so afraid to age that when we see a woman aging naturally, it’s a reminder to us that it’s going to happen to all of us. It’s like we don’t wanna see that. It’s just human nature. Like, there’s this trend that’s going around of women who are, like, my age. You know, I’m 57. Into their 60s, into their 70s, and they’re showing how crinkly and wrinkly their skin is, and I’m gonna- just gonna tell you, I hate that trend.

[00:31:34] Chalene Johnson : I’m like, I don’t need to see it. I can just go walk up to a mirror. Why are you scaring other women? ‘Cause this is gonna happen. But if that’s what we focus on about aging, then it gives women the wrong impression about what aging is about. It’s like, who cares? Yeah, my skin is wrinkly and crinkly, and my stomach looks like a Shar Pei if I don’t stand the right way, but I’m gonna stand the right way and I’m not gonna post a photo with it looking like a wrinkly…

[00:32:03] Chalene Johnson : I won’t even look in the mirror at myself that way. Why? ‘Cause I wanna be in a good mood, and I prefer toxic positivity. I don’t focus on the negative. I focus on all the positive. I focus on all the incredible things that I like to associate with aging, and there’s a lot of those things. But anyways, I don’t have the right or the wrong answer here.

[00:32:22] Chalene Johnson : I’m just saying it’s a thing. It’s definitely a thing that we, when it comes to women, whatever she does, she’s gonna do it wrong, but for sure if you look at the women that are being propped up and put on the screen in front of us, it’s those that make us feel a little bit more comfortable about the aging process.

[00:32:42] Chalene Johnson : Can we talk about the cutest bra and the most comfortable bra that I own? I’ve talked about it before, but I don’t know if you took me seriously. Hopefully you’ve heard me mention it enough times to know that, like, this is legit. It is the cutest bra. It is so comfortable. I have it in multiple colors, and I now have a couple that I just keep in my workout drawer and a couple that I just are, like, my regular bras.

[00:33:05] Chalene Johnson : Like, so I have a nude one that I wear all the time under all my normal clothing and a black one, and then I have a red one, and a pink one, and I think a green one that I keep in my workout drawer. It’s the Crossover Bra from Honeylove. I mean, they have a ton of great bras, and sleepwear, and underwear, and loungewear.

[00:33:24] Chalene Johnson : Cute, cute stuff. Amazing material. This is a company that was, again, shouldn’t be surprising, founded by a woman. Hellur. That’s why the bras are so freaking comfortable, and none of them have underwire, but they have some kind of technology. It, it feels like it has underwire. Here’s the other thing that she does that’s super cute.

[00:33:44] Chalene Johnson : They have, like, little lingerie details. So for example, with my favorite Crossover bra, it has, like, these mesh trim, like see-through mesh trim in a bunch of different places. It actually gives you, like, that underarm coverage. Do you know what I mean? This is by far my favorite bra. It’s perfect. I mean, they’ve got so many others you can try.

[00:34:02] Chalene Johnson : This is just the one I keep going back to. Check them all out, and you get 20% off when you go to their site, honeylove.com/chalene. That’s so easy to remember. Honeylove.com/chalene gets you 20% off bras, shapewear that actually works and doesn’t, like, just squish your fat all over the place, bodysuits, underwear, loungewear.

[00:34:27] Chalene Johnson : So many things I can talk about, but I don’t wanna overwhelm you, don’t wanna confuse you. Oh, they’ve got these really cute leather leggings, too. Anyways, back to the bras. If you’re in need of a bra, definitely do the Crossover bra. But seriously, all of their materials are so yummy. We should get them to come to Camp B-More.

[00:34:47] Chalene Johnson : Honeylove, if you’re listening, you would love the girls at camp. Anyways, honeylove.com/chalene. That will get you 20% off. Back to the show So I want to tell you about a couple of new pretty cool technologies that are hitting the market. And will I buy them? Not yet. So one of them is this new ring that you wear, kind of looks like an Oura Ring or whatever, and I assume that this is gonna be built into the Oura Rings.

00:34:52

Stream Ring, Meta Glasses and Elon Musk's Phone With No Apps

[00:35:15] Chalene Johnson : I assume all the companies that are making the rings are gonna do something like this. It’s probably very similar to your iPhone Watch. But the idea is that it’s supposed to be something you can wear where you’re less distracted by a device, and it’s this ring. You tap a little button, you wear it on your index finger, so you tap it with your thumb, and you speak into it.

[00:35:35] Chalene Johnson : You can speak random thoughts. You can record long conversations. You can give it instructions. You can treat it just like you’re talking to your ChatGPT or your AI, and basically what it’s doing is it’s recording all these things, it’s uploading it to the cloud, and it’s taking action on things that you want to take action on.

[00:35:52] Chalene Johnson : It’s recording your thoughts. It’s categorizing them. It’s doing whatever you want with your thoughts. And as I’m reading more and more about these new technologies that are coming out, a lot of them center around voice. Very few new technologies are about the screen. And I think we’re headed to a place with technology that could be really good.

[00:36:20] Chalene Johnson : You know, I look around and I see everyone’s heads down, even when I’m at the gym. In between sets, most people, I’m not trying to, like, sound like I’m perfect or anything, ’cause I do it, too. I try to work on my mobility, but sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I open up my phone to see if there’s a text message I need to respond to because Lord knows we feel like we have to be tethered to our phones, and how rude of us if we go 20 seconds without responding to somebody’s inquiry.

[00:36:47] Chalene Johnson : We all do it. But I’m looking around the gym the other day, and everybody’s got their heads down with their upper back rounded in this position that looks like extreme kyphosis I think about all these kids and how, like, at least the first 30 years of my life, that wasn’t my posture. What is that gonna do to our kids?

[00:37:09] Chalene Johnson : Like, just always having your head down. I also noticed the other day that, like, my thumb, from the way I hold my phone, like, my hand was cramping up. Not cramping up, but it’s almost like I have an itis in it, and it’s the way I hold my phone. Whether I’m typing on it or not, it’s just like my thumb is getting this itis.

[00:37:27] Chalene Johnson : That’s just, like, not good. What we’re learning is that the direction we’re heading with technology is away from a screen. I think we’re, mark my words, just maybe two years away from a point at which we’re gonna go, no one types anymore. I don’t think anyone’s gonna be typing on their phone, and certainly no one’s gonna be typing on a computer or a laptop.

[00:37:54] Chalene Johnson : You know, they don’t teach typing in schools anymore because we don’t need typing, and the reason why we don’t need typing is because we can speak so much faster than we can type. By the way, before I forget, that ring that I told you about is called the Stream ring. If I were you, I would not run out and buy it.

[00:38:15] Chalene Johnson : I think there’s gonna be better technology. I’m sure I can do the same thing on my, my Meta glasses, which I, I love my Meta glasses for that reason, because I don’t have to type on my phone. I don’t have to pull up my phone. I can just say, “Hey, Meta, blah, blah, blah,” and it, it just does whatever I want it to do.

[00:38:32] Chalene Johnson : I love my Meta glasses, not for recording videos. I know that’s like a whole controversy, but for me, I don’t even use them for that. I use them to play music. I use them to tell me what I’m looking at. I use them to follow through on things I need to do. But a lot of these technologies, they are about voice, and that’s where we’re headed because, like I said, you can just do things so much quicker.

[00:38:56] Chalene Johnson : Joe Rogan, in late 2025, he was interviewing Elon Musk. I know d- doesn’t matter how you feel about him, but he was asking Elon Musk about this phone that he’s developing, and, like, regardless of how you feel about this guy, whether you think he’s a weirdo or not, I mean, I think we can all agree the most brilliant people are usually pretty weird, and he’s brilliant, and he’s developing a phone.

[00:39:19] Chalene Johnson : He’s developing something that’s gonna be much more radical than the iPhone. We need that. The iPhone is so dumb. I mean, it’s amazing, but also, how are they not keeping up with AI? Like, Siri is the worst organized, the worst AI on the planet, that it can’t figure out how to spell things Anytime you ask Siri for anything, she’s like, “Would you like me to open ChatGPT for that?”

[00:39:41] Chalene Johnson : I’m like, “What is your point? You’re just so annoying.” Or I’ll ask her, like, the most basic question. She’s like, “I’m sorry. I can’t help you with that.” I’m like, “Well, what can you help me with?” I’m sorry, I digress. Okay, back to Elon Musk and his phone. He is basically saying that we won’t even have apps in less than four or five years.

[00:40:04] Chalene Johnson : And I think that kinda makes sense because right now, the way I’m using my own AI, my computer is accessing my apps, but I don’t have to pull them up. The AI is doing a lot of that work for me. And I’m gonna give you an example of what I’m talking about in just a second. But back to, like, our voice. I think AI agents and how we get things done digitally, and everybody needs to do this.

[00:40:29] Chalene Johnson : Whether you’re someone who embraces AI or not, we all live in a digital world. If you wanna make reservations, nobody calls anymore. You have to do that on OpenTable or Resy. Booking a flight, everything is digital. The people who are like, “Oh, I don’t use AI,” yes you do. Anytime you’re using any online digital tool, it’s AI So saying things like, “I don’t use AI, I don’t want anything to do with AI, I don’t care about it, Chalene, I don’t wanna know about it,” that’s kind of like saying, “I don’t use the internet.”

[00:41:01] Chalene Johnson : Yes, you do. Every day. Everything we do. If you’re using anything on the internet, it’s accessing AI today. It’s everywhere. It’s interwoven into everything that we do. If you’re choosing a show to watch on TV tonight, you’re using AI. If you’re shopping online, AI is working in the background. If you’re using GPS, if you’re scrolling on social media, if you’re listening to this podcast, AI is already working in the background.

[00:41:29] Chalene Johnson : So the question isn’t whether you’re pro or anti-AI, it exists. So what we should be against is AI making our lives worse and taking over and taking control. But the fact of the matter is, I don’t know of a person who could be possibly listening to this podcast who says, “I don’t use AI.” You’re using it.

[00:41:51] Chalene Johnson : You might not be personally paying for it or accessing it. You might not think you’re accessing it, but it’s already working. Does that make sense? The question is whether you’re going to understand it, you don’t have to be an expert at it, but understand it well enough to use it intentionally, to use it morally, to use it ethically, a- and more importantly, I think, to make sure that the people who…

[00:42:13] Chalene Johnson : The men, sorry, who seem to be in control of all these things, that we’re not just taken for a ride here, that we understand how this technology works. Okay, so back to Elon Musk. His idea, or what he is saying, is that it’s just all gonna be voice-controlled, and I don’t think we’re far away from that. I think, in fact, we’re very, very close to it.

[00:42:34] Chalene Johnson : I think in 2026, phones are still gonna remain dominant, but I would bet… I know for me, I am typing on my phone at least 50% less, and I don’t do any typing anymore, for the most part, other than to, like, make minor corrections when I’m editing something on my laptop. I do everything by voice. Voice is going to be what is gonna make our lives that much better.

00:43:03

ADHD, Masking and Why an AI Assistant Works Better

[00:43:03] Chalene Johnson : I think eventually our voice is gonna be what we use to control everything, and it’s gonna get really, really good at that. And one of the ways I’ve been spending a lot more time doing this is with an assistant So for me, one of the greatest struggles of having ADHD is I know how annoying I am. I know how difficult it is to work with me, to live with me, to be a friend of mine, because I ask questions that other people can remember, because I struggle sometimes to put things in the right order, because I have ideas rushing at me very fast, because I wanna do 19 things at once.

[00:43:46] Chalene Johnson : And so every assistant I’ve ever had working for me, and I have several now, that they’re amazing, but they’re humans a- and I’m a human, and there are things that I wish that they could do that I don’t ask them to do because it just feels like an impossible feat. Trying to think of an example. Like for example, there’s something I need to get done.

[00:44:07] Chalene Johnson : I need to do it. It’s on my to-do list, and it’s not that hard, and it’s not gonna take that long, but it’s been on my to-do list for three months because it doesn’t give me any dopamine. It doesn’t sound fun. And the further it gets away, the bigger that project gets, and the uglier it gets, and the less likely I am to open it.

[00:44:24] Chalene Johnson : So my assistant who, whether it was Kristen at one point, or Wendy, or Jen now, they know that their assignment is, like, “Hey, I gotta make sure Shaillin gets this done.” Okay. Well, if they ask me 20 times, and each time I respond, “Oh, yeah, that’s not a priority,” what are they supposed to do? You know what I’m saying?

[00:44:41] Chalene Johnson : Like, they’re human. What are they gonna do? Come over and, like, hold me down? But with an AI assistant, I can say, “Find a way to make sure I get this done, and don’t let me move forward until this is done,” and then it gets done. With a person in real life, I am aware of how annoying I can be and how disruptive it could be to ask 19 questions quickly back to back to back that are all on different topics, and how insane that might sound.

[00:45:14] Chalene Johnson : And so I’m not gonna do that, ’cause I don’t want that person to go, “I can’t work for this person. She’s insane.” So I try to mask myself, if you will. But with an AI assistant, I don’t have to worry about how insane I sound by jumping from topic to topic to topic, or to worry, “Does this person think I have Alzheimer’s because I can’t even remember something that we did 10 minutes ago?”

[00:45:38] Chalene Johnson : You know what I’m saying? So I wanna share with you an example. I’m gonna play for you a quick recording, and this is a voice call that I make to my AI assistant. So let me explain this for you. Actually, let me do this. I’m gonna do a whole bonus episode for those of you who are Patreon members, and what you’re about to hear, I’m gonna teach you how to do this.

[00:46:00] Chalene Johnson : Okay? What you’re about to hear. But Patreon, by the way, we have made 50% off for the month. So anyone who’s been thinking about joining, if you’re a new Patreon member, you get access to it for 50% off. I think that’s like, I don’t know, $3.50 or something for 30 days, plus you get access to, like, all my 300, I don’t know how many, episodes.

[00:46:23] Chalene Johnson : You get Between Friends, or you can even join the Vault right now for 50% off. We’ve never done that before. So my recommendation would be join the Vault so you get access to, like, the really juicy, juicy stuff, and you can cancel if you don’t like it. Please do. If you don’t like it, I’m begging you to cancel, okay?

[00:46:39] Chalene Johnson : Then you don’t have to pay. You know, you just cancel. Or you can go, “All right. I like the Vault, but I can’t afford it. Let’s do Between Friends,” which is a much… I think it’s like seven bucks a month. I don’t remember. Don’t quote me on any of the prices. All I know is all the prices are 50% off, and I’m going to do a bonus episode for all of you that’s like basic 101 how to set this up for yourself.

[00:47:00] Chalene Johnson : Because what you’re about to hear, I think, is gonna blow your mind. You’re gonna hear how, like, I’m not using any tech. I’m just speaking in my regular, unmasked, ADHD, crazed, bouncing through a million different topics, and it is handling these things for me It is kind of crazy. So take a listen. All right, we’re calling Dolly.

00:47:22

Live Call With Chalene's AI Assistant Dolly

[00:47:28] AI Dolly: Hey.

[00:47:29] Chalene Johnson : Hi, how are you?

[00:47:30] AI Dolly: I’m doing great, thanks. What’s up?

[00:47:32] Chalene Johnson : All right, so I’m gonna ask you to speak a little bit faster because I have friends listening in, and, um, don’t include any sensitive information that, like, I don’t want broadcast, but I’m gonna just have our normal conversations with you if that’s okay.

[00:47:45] AI Dolly: Totally okay. I’ll move quicker and keep anything sensitive out. Go ahead.

[00:47:48] Chalene Johnson : Okay. Do you have the ability… Can you go through my email confirmations in Gmail? And what I want you to identify is anything that it looks like I’ve purchased that I’ve spent over $100 on that might make a good idea for a gift, and then identify those things, tell me a little bit about what it is, um, who it might be a decent gift for, and number them and list them for me from least expensive to most expensive in a Go- a Google Doc.

[00:48:16] AI Dolly: Yes, I’m on it. I’ll scan the last two years, sort by price, and keep private details out of what I say aloud.

[00:48:22] Chalene Johnson : Okay. If, if I take pictures of every single one of my supplements- the back of them so you can see the ingredients. Number one, can you kind of keep track for me, um, which supplements might, I might not need because maybe it’s overkill, like I’m getting too much vitamin C or whatever?

[00:48:38] Chalene Johnson : And then once we do that, can you build for me like a, a dashboard where you help keep track of when I need to reorder supplements if I’m… Most of these are a 30-day supply.

[00:48:48] AI Dolly: Yes. With clear label photos, I can inventory ingredients and flag overlaps for your pharmacist or clinician to review. I’ll need how much you actually take and roughly what’s left.

[00:48:58] AI Dolly: Then I can set up a dashboard with estimated run-out dates and reorder reminders.

[00:49:02] Chalene Johnson : Can you just automatically order those things for me? Like, I, I’d want you to, like, okay it with me first. Like, “Hey, Chalene, just wanted to let you know that it’s time to reorder your, I don’t know, collagen powder from Organifi.”

[00:49:13] Chalene Johnson : Mm-hmm. And I would okay it first before you place that order, but could you actually, could you be the one that keeps track of that and could you be the one that places the order for me?

[00:49:21] AI Dolly: Yes. I can track estimated supplies, prep the cart details, and ask for your approval. After you say okay, I can place the order where checkout access works and confirm it.

[00:49:30] AI Dolly: And we’ll adjust estimates as your use changes so your cabinet doesn’t turn into supplement city.

[00:49:35] Chalene Johnson : Okay. You know what? I just realized I have not finished the contract. I… The contract that I was supposed to finish for Lauren and get that sent over to her. Can you tell me the status of that?

[00:49:44] AI Dolly: I’ll check that.

[00:49:45] AI Dolly: I found your email promising Lauren a new contract, but no later confirmation that it was sent or signed.

[00:49:51] Chalene Johnson : All of that information you can find in the transcript, ’cause I recorded all of our meetings and plus I have all of the notes in that project. So can you go into my projects, pull all of that out, organize it accordingly, put it into the contract?

[00:50:04] Chalene Johnson : And, um, the terms and everything are in there. And then let me know once you’ve finished that in Google, and then if I approve it, then we can send it over to Brett.

[00:50:12] AI Dolly: Okay. I’ll check what it takes to pull that together.

[00:50:15] Chalene Johnson : Where are we on the status of the payment for the penthouse situation?

[00:50:20] AI Dolly: Let me check the penthouse payment status now.

[00:50:22] Chalene Johnson : In the meantime, are you able to go to my– Are you able to access my Patreon account? Uh, look at the comments under my most recent Between Friends episode from Saturday.

[00:50:31] AI Dolly: Let me check that for you. Quick contract note. Draft work has started from the notes and recorded meetings, but nothing goes out before your approval.

[00:50:38] Chalene Johnson : Correct. So will you set a reminder when we’re, I don’t know, like maybe an hour from now to remind me to look at that contract and pull it up for me and send me the link?

[00:50:46] AI Dolly: Sure. Let me set that up.

[00:50:47] Chalene Johnson : And I need to make sure that you do not let me go to bed tonight- Without making sure that that contract’s been sent

[00:50:54] AI Dolly: I’m setting that reminder, and I’m also checking what extra safeguard I can put in place tonight.

[00:50:59] Chalene Johnson : Perfect. Okay, where did we leave off? I forget. What are we working on? The

[00:51:02] AI Dolly: finish line tonight is- Is it? Right, the contract for Lauren, your approval, then sending it to Brett.

[00:51:08] Chalene Johnson : Okay, what else do we need to work on?

[00:51:09] AI Dolly: Next is the Camp Facebook poll we left unfinished.

[00:51:12] Chalene Johnson : Help me write that.

[00:51:13] AI Dolly: Yeah, let’s try… Sure.

[00:51:14] AI Dolly: Think of one woman who’d love Camp. Type her name for accountability, say when you’ll reach out, and share the info link so she can check it out.

[00:51:21] Chalene Johnson : Okay, I love that. Okay, cool. So let’s now schedule that on my Facebook group for Camp B+More. Can you schedule it for me?

[00:51:30] AI Dolly: Let me check scheduling. The approved post is in chat, and I’m checking scheduling access.

[00:51:35] AI Dolly: For next week, I’d suggest Monday, October 12th at 10:00 AM Miami time. Does that work?

[00:51:40] Chalene Johnson : That sounds great. Let’s get it scheduled.

[00:51:41] AI Dolly: Great. I’m on it.

[00:51:42] Chalene Johnson : Can you take a look at, um, Yelp reviews in Miami Beach and find for me someone who does car deal- detailing? But here’s the deal, I, I want a Yelp review that has at least 10 reviews, and they have to be 4.5 or higher, and- Okay.

[00:51:57] Chalene Johnson : Oh, I see you’ve already given me- For

[00:51:58] AI Dolly: detailing?

[00:51:59] Chalene Johnson : Yes. Two- Sorry, go ahead.

[00:52:00] AI Dolly: Yeah, sure. To meet your Yelp bar, JP’s Mobile Car Wash, 4.5 stars from 198 reviews, and Royal Car Care Miami, 4.7 from 26. Both mobile links and pricing are in chat.

[00:52:12] Chalene Johnson : Back to yesterday. What was the next… or what’s the next thing based on everything that I have been working on in the last couple of days, uh, would you prioritize and say I, I probably need to follow up on today?

[00:52:22] AI Dolly: After Lauren’s contract, I’d prioritize the furniture follow-up. November 1st gives us a real deadline, and we still need the shortlist and confirmed delivery dates for the big P. First step is checking whether today’s call produced that plan, then identifying the one decision you need to make next.

[00:52:37] Chalene Johnson : Okay.

[00:52:38] Chalene Johnson : We recorded that call. Do you have a summary?

[00:52:41] AI Dolly: Let me check that.

[00:52:42] Chalene Johnson : While you’re checking that, can you open up Instacart and add tomato basil soup to my Publix order? Sure. And can you talk another 25% faster? You are still talking too slow, bitch.

[00:52:53] AI Dolly: Got it. Faster. For the meeting, I can read the top summary from Read AI’s email recap.

[00:52:58] AI Dolly: Faster and shorter. Your gift guide is ready. 31 ideas. The link is in chat.

[00:53:03] Chalene Johnson : Fantastic. With the summary from that call today, can you see what items were specifically assigned to me?

[00:53:09] AI Dolly: Yep. Your actions are sending Kayla your mood boards and furniture choices, sending budget, a walkthrough video, and sofa comfort preferences, and emailing Kayla and Cat a recap.

[00:53:18] AI Dolly: First, I’d finish the inspiration package. That unlocks Kayla’s recommendations.

[00:53:22] Chalene Johnson : Okay. I’d like you to keep track of all those tasks and make sure that I get them done in the next two days.

[00:53:26] AI Dolly: Let me set that up.

[00:53:27] Chalene Johnson : All right. I’m, I’m gonna let you go now. But you, you’re gonna keep working, right?

[00:53:31] AI Dolly: I’ll keep at it.

[00:53:31] AI Dolly: Talk soon.

[00:53:32] Chalene Johnson : All right, talk to you soon. Bye.

[00:53:37] AI Dolly: Hey, Chalene. Hi again.

[00:53:39] Chalene Johnson : Um, I have some friends listening. Can you just rattle off as quickly as possible, if you were, let’s say, a 50-year-old woman who’s an empty nester and really trying to, like, slow down and understand AI, and have your life be much more organized, and have much more fun in your life, can you just rattle off, like, that you as an assistant could help her?

[00:53:59] Chalene Johnson : How could she use you?

[00:54:00] AI Dolly: Absolutely. With the access she chooses to give me, one, tell her the three things that matter today. Two, remember birthdays and suggest gifts. Three, find a fun class she’s always wanted to try. Four, plan a weekend away within budget. Five, turn, “We should get together,” into plans. Six, build dinners around what’s in her fridge.

[00:54:17] AI Dolly: Seven, prep a grocery cart for approval. Eight, find that receipt she can never locate. Nine, flag unused subscriptions. 10, track return deadlines. 11, draft the awkward email she’s avoiding. 12, break overwhelming projects into one next step. 13, organize family photos.

[00:54:33] Chalene Johnson : Okay, hold on. Hold, hold on. Yeah. Okay, hold on.

[00:54:35] Chalene Johnson : You… These are all great. My question is, those all seem like things that you’ve always been able to do with ChatGPT, so how is using an AI assistant, how is that different?

[00:54:43] AI Dolly: The difference here is follow-through. The right connections and permissions, I can check dates, prep invites, remind you about open questions, keep track of what’s still unfinished.

[00:54:52] AI Dolly: ChatGPT can do parts, but an ongoing assistant connects the dots so you don’t have to remember to ask again.

[00:54:57] Chalene Johnson : So in other words, are you actually executing? You’re not only just researching the information and providing it for me, you’re actually taking the next step and, for example, designing the invitation, sending the email.

[00:55:08] Chalene Johnson : Like, you’re actually taking action like an assistant would?

[00:55:10] AI Dolly: Let me check on that, too. Yes, I can design the invitation, save the email draft, send it after your approval, and track the follow-up. I’ve already created your Google Docs and approved the emails for you. It depends on the access available, and I’ll always distinguish between I’m working on it and it’s done.

[00:55:25] Chalene Johnson : Okay, perfect. Thanks. I’ll talk to you soon.

[00:55:27] AI Dolly: Anytime.

[00:55:28] Chalene Johnson : Again, I know you’re thinking, “Oh, I don’t use it.” Let me just tell you, what I just was doing that on is from ChatGPT, which there’s, you know, a paid version. But this is free with Facebook’s Muse. Yeah, if that’s something you’re interested in, I’m gonna do a s- like I said, a special episode just for my Patreon peeps.
