How to Set 2026 Goals Without the Pressure

Simple Goal Setting for 2026 (90-Day Plan)

January 1st is such a weird day. Because part of us is like, “I should probably set goals…” And the other part is like, “Or… I could stay in sweatpants and pretend time isn’t real.”

If you’re not feeling fired up right now, good. This exercise isn’t a “new year, new you” pep rally. It’s a simple, no-pressure way to figure out what feels off…and what would actually make you feel better in 2026 (or any time you need to get your life on track).

No vision board required. No dramatic personality overhaul. Just a quick inventory… and a plan that doesn’t make you hate your life. (If you geek out on the science behind things, here's a little neuroscience about goal setting).

Here's the Chalene Show episode to listen to while you tackle this easy 90-day goal setting system I've helped hundreds of thousands of people with.

New Year Goal Setting

Step One: Take a Simple Life Inventory

Before setting goals, you need clarity. Not on what you want to do… but how you want to feel.

Rate these areas of your life from 1–10 based on the last few months… not today’s mood.

  • Physical health
  • Mental health
  • Your environment (home, workspace, car)
  • Relationships (friends + family)
  • Romantic love
  • Purpose / work / service
  • Spirituality
  • Personal management (focus, discipline, priorities)
  • Joy + hobbies
  • Financial health

A low score doesn’t mean failure. It just means… pay attention here.

Step Two: Pick ONE Area to Focus On

Look at your lowest scores.

Choose one area that:

  • You can realistically improve in 90 days
  • Would noticeably improve your overall happiness

Not everything. Not ten things. One. Because nothing changes when everything is a priority.

Step Three: Make It Actionable (and Easy)

Brainstorm small actions that would improve that one area. Think 10–20 minute actions. Nothing dramatic.

If your brain freezes… use AI. Seriously. Ask Chat GPT for ideas. Then rewrite them in your own words. You’re not cheating. You’re being efficient.

Step Four: Set 10 Simple Goals for 90 Days

Any areas. No rules. But the first three goals should support the area you scored lowest.

Next, label each goal with what it requires most:

  • M = money
  • T = time
  • S = skills
  • D = discipline

Whichever letter shows up the most tells you what you’re missing.

Step Five: Create ONE Push Goal

Your push goal gives you the thing you’re short on.

  1. More time?
  2. More money?
  3. More skills?

This one goal clears the path for everything else. Here’s the magic…When you focus on your push goal, the rest starts working itself out.

The Daily Part (This Is Where It Works)

Every day:
Do 3 small things that support your push goal. That’s it.

Not perfect. Just consistent. Because discipline isn’t punishment… it’s freedom. And no one’s coming to plan your life for you.

Love you… mean it.
