share this:

Today, you’ll find 10 Instagram stats that you need to know in 2021. These findings either stem from outside research organizations or are based on studies we have conducted within Marketing Impact Academy and InstaClubHub (using thousands of entrepreneur and business professionals).

These stats tell us how our individual audience is using Instagram. And that’s really what it boils down to, isn’t it?

If we can understand how our audience is using the platform, we can then leverage that behavior to our own benefit as a business owner or someone who’s just trying to grow their brand online.

10 Instagram Stats For Growing Your Brand Online

Stat #1: 60% of people say that they discover new products on Instagram.

This means that if you’re a business owner, especially someone who has a physical product that you can create a shop for on Instagram, it’s a great place to be. A growing amount of people are actually moving away from Amazon and big corporations and seeking out small entrepreneurs on Instagram. So if you’re a business owner, this stat is great for you to know.

Stat #2: 2.5% of Instagram accounts are business accounts.

There are about 25 million business accounts on IG and there’s over 1 billion active users. Meaning, 97.5% of people on Instagram aren’t business owners, but, rather, potential customers.

Stat #3: Reels are currently getting up to 10 times more views than when it premiered.

Reels Dominating is One of the Key Instagram Stats to know 2021

And Reels were already doing better than all other forms of content!

Stat #4: Reels make up greater than 20% of the real estate on IG.

In digital talk, real estate is how much space on your screen something takes up.

With reels getting their own tab and dominating the explore page (since the layout change), it now makes up for more than 1/5 of the space on Instagram.

Stat #5: More than half of the users report their lowest engagement is from normal or typical feed posts.

A normal/typical feed post would be defined as just a plain stand-alone single photo that you post to your feed… not a:

  • Carousel
  • Reel
  • IGTV
  • Video

On the flip side of that, the highest engagement rates are split between Instagram Reels and Carousel posts.

Increasing Carousel Posts Is An Important Instagram Stat To Know for better Engagement in 2021.

So, if you’re someone who’s trying to get more engagement on Instagram, you should be focusing on Reels and Carousel posts.
