Snapshot | Why I Shout-Out Jesus In My New Book

Plus! Perfection VS Excellence And How To Keep Senior Citizens Busy

December arrives tomorrow! How did this happen? Time truly goes by faster and faster the older we get. Or, so I hear. I’m actually not getting older. I’ll have to do a blog on that sometime, titled: The Curious Case Of Chalene Johnson. But I digress…

I’m especially excited to share this week’s Snapshot with you because we’re starting with spiritual and ending with funny. Which, let’s be honest, sums up how I choose to look at life! And being as you’re a true Lifer, I know you relate.

As usual, I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments. Did a particular talk really resonate with you? My inquiring mind would like to know.

Two Hearts IconRelationship Chat – Why I Shout-Out Jesus In My New Book

I’m filing your first chat today under Relationship because that’s what it all comes down to, doesn’t it? My one-on-one with Him brings indescribable comfort, peace, strength, and daily joy.

It’s no wonder study after study shows that the only social activity associated with sustained happiness is that of taking part in a religious organization. Which means that mixing spirituality with an ongoing social scene proves to be a worthy antidote to suffering.

For me, this is true even in my work.

Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58

God’s words (in the bible) indicate over and over that a strong work ethic WHILE keeping faith in Him top of mind… can lead to extraordinary things.

Listen, you’re going to love this week’s headlining video!

  • 1st: You’ll be one of the few to share my very last moments in writing the 131 Method book.
  • 2nd: Find out exactly who said I might want to reconsider my shout-out to Jesus.
  • 3rd:  Learn what part of diet phasing does, indeed, bring me closer to God.

Lots of goodies in store, so hit that play!

If you’re the least bit curious about how/why I’ve dedicated so much of my waking time to the 131 Method (book and program), you can check it out HERE! Next round begins on Monday, December 3rd!

Person IconPersonal Development Chat – Perfection VS Excellence

Here we are, entering the beginning of December. It’s the time of year when many reflect back on the previous 11 months. Did we accomplish the goals we put in writing back in January? If not, New Years is just around the corner. A fresh beginning awaits!

But alas, many of us find this cycle repeating year after year – nowhere closer to our dreams. And I think it might have a little something to do with perfection.

Listen, the P word is not something one should ever strive for.

I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God’s business.” – Michael J. Fox

Piggybacking off the last blurb… I finished my book! (Can’t say it enough!) And it took me eons longer than most authors. Was perfectionism standing in my way? Or just striving to get it right? And what’s the difference, anyway? Glad you asked…

Martini IconJust For Fun Chat – How To Keep Senior Citizens Busy

“I’m bored!” When you’re a parent, that phrase is way too familiar. So, how should mom and dad handle it? If you have any suggestions, tell me in the comments! But look, I firmly believe when boredom becomes an issue in the household… the only way to cure it is to help kids establish ways to busy themselves. Activities – not too easy, not too difficult – that captivate the mind and senses.

Somehow time plays funny tricks on us, right? Through the circle of life (cue Lion King soundtrack!), bored kids might one day turn into bored senior citizens – ultimately, wanting to feel involved. To be challenged. And the same rule applies re: finding activities that engage.

Welcome to my life when Bill & Marge come to town. Don’t get me wrong, my parents are super self-sufficient. That said, not gonna lie, there were moments I needed them preoccupied. What did I have them do and how did they deal? Check it out!

Hey, to all my Jewish lifers out there! I know Sunday is the first night of Hanukkah… so, I’m wishing you the most joyous 8 days ever!

Don’t forget, all the convo above comes from Snapchat! Give a FOLLOW for daily realness!

XOXO

  1. You go Chalene and you go JESUS!!
I have just strarted my own workout Christian clothing line. I’ve received so much positive response and I love wearing and seeing others wearing Gods positive words on life! I believe that His word is to raise us and others up and for us all to shine His light and love which is TOTALLY what I feel you do and is flowing through you! You keep it up and I’m all the more impressed with you Chalene! This world needs the light!

  2. I’m a believer and give Glory to God for all I do! I’m ready for someone to truly understand that alone we can not do anything!
I questioned one of the Beachbody super coaches in a private message one time as she was claiming to be a believer but her actions said much different.
God should get credit publicly for anything good!
She came down on me and my upline SO fast, I truly became disenchanted with Beachbody. I’m still a coach, because I love Shakeology, but I’m not promoting the company any longer.
Can’t wait to see where you’re going!

  3. I agree with what has been said. Our Heavenly Father deserves credit for everything good in this world!! If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be alive today. The very breath I take is a blessing from Him. When did we, as a nation, become so afraid of offending someone else’s opinion, that we have become okay with offending our Heavenly Father? I applaud you for standing up for your beliefs. Especially when you very easily could have done differently and none of us would have known the difference. But, you knew that you, your editors and most of all, our Heavenly Father would have known. So, thank you!!

  4. Thank you for being bold and authentic about your faith in Jesus! He’s the ultimate One for us to strive and please. May He continue to bless you in all your endeavors!

  5. Chalene, last year I wrote a book and became a number one best selling author of Leaving a Legacy of Love and my life transformation. I too gave a whole chapter to Jesus as without him I would not be where I am today. I too was “warned” by my editor that I had too much in there about Jesus. What? How much is too much???

I have been following you (and here I may give out my age) and doing your workouts since the very first turbo jam! Your personality and inner beauty drew me to your workouts. (We have similar personalities). Thank you so much for all of the uplifting work that you do and for giving Jesus the glory! I love being involved in all you do. Keep it going!!

  6. I’m not a Christian or a follower of any particular religion, but I do believe in a higher power and that that higher power has a purpose and a message to express through each and every one of us. And the sooner we can surrender to that, the better and more fufilling our Lives will be. Speaking from experience. Part of my work is to help people tune into exactly that is for them. So important !

  7. All of your snaps, tweets, blogs, etc. would be a sham if you weren’t true to yourself and took a stand in what you believe in….Jesus. I love Jesus and you! Can’t wait to read your book. You are an inspiration in many areas of life, and staying true to your Creator is the most important one!
